MAYNARDS

Maynards is a family fruit farm, which was started by David and Mary back in 1952. Over the sixty years since David and Mary bought the farm the business has evolved to be entirely fruit growing.

The site being chosen for fruit growing because it is out of the frost pockets in the valleys. The soil is on the heavy side for fruit growing and although cursed in wet winters the water retaining properties are beneficial in dry summers. Rough grass and woodland are kept around the farm to encourage the birds and insects which help to control various pests, and allow for the naturally farmed fruit. Expect gooseberries, rhubarb, apples, apricots, blackberries, blackcurants, cherrys, cobnuts, damsons, loganberrys, raspberrys, redcurrants, pears, and plums
